In cooperation with Gmundner Keramik and Studio Vivienne Westwood, the MAK presents an extraordinary and exquisite artist's tableware based on a design by Andreas Kronthaler, Creative Director of Vivienne Westwood. The special edition MAK x Gmundner Keramik x Studio Vivienne Westwood, manufactured to perfection by Gmundner Keramik, merges Vivienne Westwood's design and traditional craftsmanship to create perfect contemporary ceramic art.
The special edition with Gmundner Keramik was created for the MAK Artists' Dinner on December 5, 2024, which celebrated the creative power of design as part of the exhibition PECHE POP . Dagobert Peche and his traces in the present. It is the second joint collaboration after MAK x Gmundner Keramik x Jakob Lena Knebl. The proceeds will support the MAK.
The special edition, consisting of six different placemats and dessert plates, features drawings and graphics by Vivienne Westwood: the "pirate arm" and cutlass from London's World's End boutique, a nod to the plundering of ideas from the past; the words ACTIVE, RESISTA, CULTURE, FUTURE; a Greek vase, a symbol of the origins of Western culture and an inexhaustible source of inspiration; and hand drawings with the promises Save the Ocean and Save the Rainforest to save the ocean and the rainforest, the blue and green lungs of our planet. The selection was inspired by Dagobert Peche and his influence on the world of design.
