The sculptor Anish Kapoor, who was born in Bombay in 1954 and now lives in London, is one of the most prominent representatives of New British Sculpture. With his first sculptures - simple forms resting on the ground with colored pigments - the artist created an extremely diverse work made of different materials such as stone, steel and glass. The Turner Prize winner's abstract-poetic oeuvre impresses with its spirituality and transcendence, which have their roots in the artist's native India.

Anish Kapoor. Shooting into the Corner presents three large wax works that the sculptor developed specifically for the exhibition of the same name at the MAK Vienna (January 21 - April 19, 2009) and with which he breaks new artistic ground. The volume with contributions by Vito Acconci, Bettina M. Busse, Peter Noever, August Ruhs, Burghart Schmidt, Gabriel Ramin Schor and Michael Stavaric documents this group of works in detail in a section of illustrations. Likewise, for the first time, the wax works since 1992 and the graphic work since 1987 are being published together in order to shed more light on the interaction between painting and sculpture in Kapoor's work. This comprehensive insight into the artist's work is supplemented with essays that locate the work in art and cultural history.

With texts by Vito Acconci, Bettina M. Busse, Peter Noever, August Ruhs, Burghart Schmidt, Gabriel Ramin Schor and Michael Stavaric.

Published for the opening of the exhibition of the same name (January 21st - April 19th, 2009) at the MAK.
