MAK, Vienna / Publishing House for Modern Art, 2016
The publication analyzes the various aspects surrounding crafts. She explores the causes of the worldwide hype about crafts and the enthusiasm for "handmade", but also the difficulties that craftsmen have to struggle with in the market today.
Eight interviews with scientists and craftsmen - Ludwig Kyral, Annette Precht/Sandra Thaler, Roman Sandgruber, Martin Schreier, Richard Sennett, Akio Tanaka, Christian Witt-Dörring and Peter Zumthor - shed light on this area of tension in a multifaceted way. In addition, public appreciation, material culture and future-oriented strategies of craftsmanship are discussed.
Published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name (December 14, 2016–April 9, 2017) at the MAK.
Edited by Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, Rainald Franz, Tina Zickler, with articles and interviews.
