Study on Camellia punctata simplex
Johann Knapp (1778-1833) was a chamber painter at the Austrian court and documented the botanical inventory of the imperial gardens and greenhouses at the beginning of the 19th century. With the precise panel paintings depicting fruits and flowers from native and exotic plants, he created an extensive work that was continued after his death by his son Joseph (1810-1867).
